My Macbook 2008 needs a new battery and only holds a short charge.
I keep it on mains supply for the most part, take it off for very short
intervals.

I would like to ask you your opinion about this. My six-year-old MacBook Pro
has alerted me that the battery needs to be replaced. It is no longer
charging. So it is confined to my desk for now. Should I replace the battery?
Or should I wait and just invest in a new Mac in the next year or two? At
this time I cannot afford any of the new MacBook pros. The MacBook Air is a
possibility or something from the refurbished store. I use the I pad for
checking my email daily listening to podcast and some web surfing. It has
taken a load off my old computer. But I do use the computer about once a week
or so for three or four hours at a time. Hopefully this type of usage will
prolong its life.
Any thoughts?
