Oh yes, I was aware that it was audio ducking causing the problem. But, not
wanting to change audio ducking in some instances, I do my workaround instead.

Audio ducking causes the other volumes to decrease whenever VO speaks.
Turning it off causes VO to become much quiter because other sounds are not
temporarily reduced. The default is on. However, if sounds are acting
strange, audio ducking is the first thing I check (after checking volumes).

Okay, sorry but I don't get this. Are you saying that changing audio ducking
will bring the sound volume back up or just to change audio ducking when you
are listening to something or that this is somehow going to fix the problem
permanently. Maybe it should be obvious and everybody else gets it, but
somehow this isn't computing for me.

Go to settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, rotor, and locate audio
ducking. Double-tap it to check it and the selection will be added to the
rotor. Then twist the rotor to audio ducking. whilst audio ducking is
selected, a single-finger vertical flick will change the setting.

On my 4S running IOS 7.X if I started the audio in a way that interrupted
Voiceover the volume would come back, like the first tap of a 2 finger
double tap silenced Voiceover and then the audio popped back up.

I did try the triple click just now, and the volume did come back up. In
additon to needing to dig my phone out to do this instead of being able to
use my headset controls, one of the times audio ducks and doesn’t come
back up is on the announcement of my screen locking.

I’m not finding a way to disable audio ducking on IOS like you can on Mac,
am I just missing it, or is this feature not available?

I've had this happen sometimes. If I'm wearing bluetooth earphones I find
that if I press as if I'm going to call siri but then keep very quiet
when I would usually talk, then after Siri's part which usually is silent
since I've said nothing, the volume will usually come back within a few
seconds after that. It sounds complicated in writing but it only takes a
few seconds in actuality.

On a fairly regular basis the audio playback on my iPhone, music book or
podcast, doesn't come back up after audio ducking for VoiceOver. If I
get a notification, like a text message, the audio comes back to full
volume. Anyone else experience this or have any thoughts?
