Yes, this will open the article in safari but as with all things mac, there is another way but I like this tip. The way I've been reading articles from the beginning is to right arrow on the article I want to read which drops me into the "html content", then I use vo to read it and when I am done, I stop interacting with the "html content and vo navigate left till I am back to the list of articles. There are a number of configuration options in shrook and some of them don't seem to do anything at least for me but I love the ap and the one for ios as well. hth.
