I assume he just means in the finder hitting command+I when on the file.

Hi folks,
Someone had asked about getting a word count in Pages. If you
open the document inspector, choose the, Document, radio button and
then the, Info, tab. You will find this information along with a lot of
other useful things. You can find out what page you are in a document
simply by stopping your interaction with the text area.
