Hi Keith,
I bought the 42 MM model. It's best to check them out and see what feels
better for your fingers when you wear it. I personally love the watch and use
it all of the time for notifications and responding to or composing messages.
There are also a number of watch apps that you can get that enhances what you
can do with it.

I have the iPhone 8. It works perfectly fine. I got the larger capacity
model for myself, but that is up to you.
I also have an Apple Watch series 3 that includes the cellular
connectivity. You can also still get the Series 2, I believe, That doesn't
have the cellular connection, but it has GPS and is water proof.
