Sunday I went to Kisatchie below Natchitoches looking for bee activity, and
saw a decent number of butterflies. I saw a dozen or so Question Marks, 20+
Snouts, 10+ Juvenals duskywings, 1 grey hairstreak, 2 common buckeye, 1
pipevine swallowtail, 1 pearl crescent (I think), and only one species of
dragonfly, a baskettail.

Jean and Jeff Trahan, and I, spent a very nice afternoon in Kisatchie NF
yesterday. We started at the Evangeline Primitive Camp area on FR 273, then
moved to a few locations along Castor Plunge Rd. There were many b/fs on
the wing and we saw a total of 18 species. Not much in bloom, primarily
false garlic along with some blackberry vines. There were several reduds in
bloom but we could not find any Henry's Elfins.
