There are 'interesting' things going on in Sudan. As we learn from the Yahoo report, the government of the so-called The National Islamic Front has sent: "over 20,000 Muslim militiamen, called Janjaweed, or "men on horseback," to carry out attacks on civilians from the Fur, Masaalit, and Zaghawa ethnic groups..." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=655&ncid=655&e=1&u=/oneworld/20040402/wl_oneworld/4536830161080924368 But those ethnic groups are also Muslim. Apparently, the religion of the militiamen is relevant, while the religion of the other side is not. It is further odd that the government has simultaneously arrested Hassan al-Turabi, the leader of the supposedly Islamist Popular Congress party: http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2004-04/02/article01.shtml Obviously the Sudanese government must be out on some kind of Jihad.
