Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel laureate in economics, has joined the Occupy Wall Street
protests.  He's an economist who actually doesn't assume can openers.  He works
with reality and knows the system has failed.  He has a book on the subject (if
not several).  I've not read his books but I understand his position and it is
reality based.  At any rate, he's joined the protests.  I checked CNN, ABC and
the NYT.  CNN's headline was the protests were unfocused, ABC said they''re a
new brand of tourism in the money section, and the NYT had not a word.  Mayor
Bloomberg of NYC said we have to protect the banks, and that the people the
protesters are protesting against are the people on Wall Street who earn
$40-50,000 a year.  Obviously he believes Americans are pretty stupid, that
they'll actually believe this, and maybe in fact they are.

The below blog site is the only site I could find that mentions that Stiglitz
is supporting the protests.  The short video in the corner called Economic
Hitmen is by John Perkins, who wrote a book (or books; I haven't read them but
I have heard him lecture) on how corporations move into countries and
effectively hijack the country.  They say to a dictator, either we give you
untold riches to loot your country with us or you will float face down in the
river and somebody else will do it with us.  It's a 2-minute video and doesn't
come close to capturing the whole thing.  I would add only that Perkins calls
the system mutant capitalism, but it's not capitalism at all, at least not as
Adam Smith defined capitalism.  It's the opposite of capitalism, it's
mafia-ism, just pure crime.  At any rate, if anyone is interested, that's just
a little background on that video.
