They are evading an import tax, five percent of value on all goods except
charitable donations.  BTW, small fact about Iranian sheep, learned when I
was in that part of the world: shepherds in Iran *lead* their sheep.  Read
all biblical references to shepherds and sheep with this in mind.


A.A. Seen in this light, smuggling sheep makes perfect sense.  It could even be 
an American behavior if we knew anything about sheep.  It seems the Iranians 
are closer to the Bible than we are.
