Lawrence has been criticized for using a leftist/rightist
distinction, and I suggested "counterculturalist" as a
better alternative, a way of yielding to the more subtle
distinctions, as Carol put it.
Not all leftists are counterculturalists and vice versa.
Instead what defines counterculturalism is alienation.
