Had the previous exchange between Carol and Geary been in a naturally occurring
face to face conversation, it would have been odd.
In its written counterpart, Geary's meant 'by' became 'my'.
If you disimplicate that, as Geary does in
i. Not only is it MY Malvina but BY Malvina.
Similarly, the Ninth Symphony is my Beethoven and by Beethoven.
