I have 27 5-ft long bookshelves lining two walls of my family room. Yes,
removing the books to dust is a purgatorial task. I have one section of
fiction, alpha by author, a section on philo & religion, alpha by author, a
poetry
section, and then all other non-fiction, alpha. The interesting thing this
spring is that all my husbands books (he owns nearly as many as mine) came
into the house when we married 5 years ago and have been stranded randomly in
various tacky bookcases around the house, bookcases which I now, since I'm
reconverting the front room from temporary step-daughter teen bedroom to proper

living room, am getting rid of. Which leaves me far more books than shelves.
I've considered hanging shelves from studs in the ceilings.... Anyway, this
time 'round I get to pick up each of the (literally) thousands of books we
collectively own, decide if it's a book either of us really wants/needs to
keep, if we haven't read it if we ever will, and which section it goes into.
Then measure the quantity of books leftover from the shelves used and figure
out ......I don't know .....maybe a purchase of one of those pre-fab sheds to
keep them in..... <sigh>. And no one ever answered my plea about organizing
music. That means either there's a perfect solution that is a complete
secret to the unititiated or no solution exists at all. Never loan a book out
w/out requiring a deposit of something of equal value, btw.

Ah, see, I meant putting away some papers, shaking out the clothes I never
wear but insist on keeping, and dusting off my bookshelves. It's really only
the bookshelves that is a horribly aggravating task because I have to take
all the books off the shelves just to wipe the shelves and then put them all
back. That's 11 shelves. Long ones. In alphabetical order. According to
subject. Shut up, just shut. up. And it's bothering me that there are these
two empty spaces. One where the collected works of Shakespeare is supposed to
go and one where a book on Hellenistic philosophy is supposed to go, because
I let a friend borrow them after she had her bag stolen. There's a hole in
my heart, I tell you, a hole.

day?? DAY??? It's been spring cleaning freaking MONTH all April and it's
likely to continue into MAY!!! Don't talk to me about spring cleaning
"days"!
Start with the top of the walls and put on some really, really energetic
music. Oh, and stock up on advil for all the pulled muscles. And open
windows when you combine more than three potent cleaning chemicals.
Anything else
I can help with?
