It doesn't matter that Japan lost. Many wars are started by
the loser. .... What's important is that an Asian country stood up to a Western superpower.



That was also the importance of the Maginot Line. The French stood up to Germany with a wall. A big wall. A highly-fortified big wall. A highly-fortified big wall with airplane hangers inside. This, as is well known, inspired the Argies to try to seize the Malvinas.
