Google has made available some 240 years of newspapers.

With a bit of experimentation, I found that it goes back to 1759 for newspapers in English. I've found newspapers in German and Spanish from the 1920s.

As usual, Google does things without any background information, so Google won't state the time range, the sources (a list of newspapers and magazines), etc. Nor do they state if this information will be available in a stable format; if I search today and get a result, will someone also get the same result a year later?

For academic use, it is fairly useless if Google doesn't provide this
information.
