Ho fatto un po' di prove e riassumo.
Allora ho preso i deb che gentilmente metti a disposizione, ho
compilato il kernel e il modulo sperando di aver seguito in modo
corretto le tue esaurienti indicazioni.
Via seriale ottengo i seguenti, poi si blocca tutto, anche
cambiando vari XF86Config-4 :

Almeno una volta a funzionato, ma secondo me mancava qualcosa
nel senso che fireglcontrol diceva:
Driver does not provide the FireGL X11 extensions!
Panel components will operate only partially.
E non mostra un gran che a parte i settaggi per l'uscita tv.
Altre volte ho avuto un fermo completo senza nessun output nemmeno sulla
seriale.
Aggiungo che normalmente (con l'XF86Config-4 di default) il primo
/etc/init.d/kdm start crasha regolarmente:
