I have two PC's and I'm trying to figure out why I can burn CD's on the f=
irst=20
one but not the 2nd one. I'll try to explain how I set things up below. =
 Let=20
me know if you have any idea of what's going wrong on the 2nd PC.

PC #1 - Dual CPU desktop with DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives
PC #2 - Laptop with a CD-RW drive

I can burn a CD using X-CD-Roast with PC #1 but not #2. This is puzzling=
=20
because, I did burn a CD with #2 once and I aborted a burn that looked li=
ke=20
it was going well. However, after many unsuccessful attempts (which made=
=20
several CDs unusable) I reinstalled Red Hat 7.3 Personal and I haven't be=
en=20
able to burn a CD on PC #2 since.

On both PC's I have changed one line in my /etc/fstab file from this...

/dev/cdrom            /mnt/cdrom                iso9660 noauto,owner,kudz=
u,ro=20
0 0

to this...

/dev/scd0              /mnt/cdrom               iso9660 noauto,owner,kudz=
u,ro=20
0 0

The only difference is that for PC #1, "cdrom" is "cdrom1" since Red Hat =
set=20
up the DVD-ROM as "cdrom".

I also, installed xcdroast 0.98 doing "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" in a directory=20
containing the following dowloaded files:

cdrtools-cdda2wav-1.11a23-1.i386.rpm
cdrtools-cdrecord-1.11a23-1.i386.rpm
cdrtools-devel-1.11a23-1.i386.rpm
cdrtools-mkisofs-1.11a23-1.i386.rpm
xcdroaast-0.98alpha10-1.i386.rpm

x-cd-roast lists the following drives in its setup screen:

PC #1 - Bus ID [0,0[, Vendor: CyberDrv, Model: CW038D CD-R/RW, Rev: 120C
Description: CD-ROM

PC #2- Bus ID [0,0[, Vendor: MATSHITA, Model: UJDA330, Rev: 1.50,
Description: CD-ROM

I don't want to abuse this discussion list, but in case it helps I've inc=
luded=20
the text output for a successful burn and an failed burn at the bottom of=
=20
this message. Just ignore it if it's annoying.

Thanks,

Arif
