Hello,
DRC would like to hear how other councils have setup end-to-end digital
workflows that allow building inspectors/certifiers to access and mark-up plans
and DA's while out in the field.
For reference, we use Authority 7 to process new DA's submitted via the NSW
Planning Portal, which are then registered/linked to Trim (Content Manager
9.4). Currently, there's a lot of manual processing/steps involved in making
the required plans accessible for markup in the field, so if you have managed
to implement a 100% digital workflow we'd appreciate your insights to the below
questions.
1. What hardware and software is used in the field to remotely access and
mark-up PDF plans? Is this used solely for field work (i.e. tablet or phone
with pen/stylus), or is it the users primary desktop (i.e. Surface/laptop)?
2. If you use a cloud storage option as part of your workflow, how have
you maintained governance of data? Does it automatically save back to
Trim/Content Manager?
(NB, the particular wishlist we've been provided is "Any solution that does not
require logging in, no emailing plans, automatic saving to trim and the use of
a stylus pen on a device or even an iphone (as a backup option)".
Thanks in advance
