Thanks David. I have done that. The dust is suborn. Maybe I'll drop by my local camera store today and see what they say. Else, I will live with it for a few weeks as we leave tomorrow for Glacier NP and then north to Jasper.

funny shot. Is that dirt on the sensor I see? I have a few troublesome spots on my sensor that I can't seem to "shake" off. Talked to a camera shop in Seattle yesterday and he recommended not doing it myself, as he has seen too many people scratch their sensor AA filters. He said if it won't blow off, then take it in to a shop (not his) and have it done.

Good Mornin' Aram!

By gosh, I think you're right! I was too busy laughing, to notice, in my bleary eyed, up-before-breakfast state.

Before you send it to the shop, try putting your camera on "Clean" ... this opens the shutter and keeps it that way, so that you can clean the sensor. Be sure your battery is fully charged before you do this ... as whens it dies, the shutter will close, without warning, and if you have some sort of cleaning "stick" in there, it will damage your shutter.

With the shutter open, blow the dust off with a large blower-bulb. It is rare that dust will not come off with such treatment.

BTW: Check your instruction book, but for most cameras, the only way to close the shutter, after cleaning, is to turn the camera "off".

Really stubborn dust warrants a "wet" cleaner. I've known many people who have used them successfully. No one I've ever met has done any damage with one, but you do have to be careful. Stories do exist of people scratching their AA filters. So, if you're not confident, have a shop do it. In the rare event they do damage, they should pay for any repairs.

Cheers!
