Having worked briefly with an EM, there is also a lot of Pre-Processing, at 
least for biological subjects.  But the thrill was amazing when you turn than 
knob and have a mitochondrion zoom in and fill the screen.

You could check ebay japan for that Takumar Electron Microscope. ;-)


But they are seriously monochromatic absent extensive postprocessing.
