G'Mornin' Aram!
Agreed. Last Spring & Summer were horrible. Months of acrid smoke in the air
made it impossible for anyone to ride their horse and hard on everyone's lungs.
But, in our case, the fires were no closer than 50km. (Given that a fire can
move at up to 35km/hr, that's close enough!)
This fire was under 4km away and quite bothersome! In the end, it burned just
150 hectares (370 acres) an not completely, at that.
The late snow & rain (it's raining, lightly, as I type) did have an effect on
the fire. Normally, a fire sweeps through an area, but this fire seemed
capricious in that it burned some spots, and not others - likely due to
moisture content of the ground.
(I'd normally not show the following shot, as it is just a "record shot", but,
it shows what I mean.)

The exact cause of the fire is, so far, unknown, but certainly human caused, as
there was no has not yet been any lightning in the area, this year. The most
likely bet is a smoker tossing his/her butt out a car window.
David.
Seems odd that with all the snow and rain of late that a forest fire
would be able to take hold. Was it lightning started? Hope you and I
do not have a repeat of last spring and summer. That was horrible.
