Was your image dated David? If it was, why did trouble even start?

As many of you who follow my posts will know, I was recently accepted into an
artists's co-op. I've been there less than 3 weeks, and it seems I am
already the source of some controversy.
Recently, a lady came in to the store and discovered one of my images (a
mustang mare and her colt), decided that I had photographed her horse and
colt and became very upset. This caused no end of concern for the young lady
(a very good artist, who works in charcoal) who was staffing the store, that
day. And it has created a flurry of emails, between all the members,
consuming inordinate amounts of time.
The lady was, of course, wrong. It turns out that her cold was born in 2015
while my image was made in 2010. This, alone, would make it difficult for my
image to be of her colt.
However, even if she had been right, I would be within my legal rights to
take and sell such a photograph - at least, in Canada.
It has been suggested, and I think it a very good idea, that every
photographer find and carry two copies (one for reference, one to give away)
of a photographer's rights summary, for the country they live in.

Canadian one is very good. None should be considered a substitute for good,
legal advice, if such is needed.

If you live elsewhere, you may wish to do some digging on the web. Every
photographer should know his rights. (S)he should also know the rights of
photographers in countries they are visiting, as their rights may not be the
same as at home.
