Thing is, that methodology isn't working for me. Hasn't been since the 20th of
december. This is why I am attempting to find a video based method of learning
this interface, understanding this interface, and adapting this interface.

I have an Olympus E-M1, which is similar. The standard manual is from where I
figured out everything about it, that and using it.
My tip is to go to the owners manual and read it in a different way. Use the
Basic Guide to learn all the "Names of Parts" and "Camera Controls" in the
Olympus vernacular. Once you have those bits fixed in your memory, go
straight to the back of the manual where the Menu Directory is listed. Read
all the menu options available to you and how they are organized. Don't
bother too much yet with the details of what the default setting is, etc:
this exercise is to again gain familiarity with what's there and what Olympus
calls it, and where in the logical structure it is.
Once you know what all the bits are in terms of the body and how Olympus
names things, and have a basic understanding of the options provided in the
menus and how they're organized, going back to read the manual and work the
controls as you learn the camera is much more illuminating, IMO.
Other things: don't try to go through everything in one sitting, and don't
change too much stuff at first. I find it generally best with Olympus gear to
work with the camera pretty much how it comes out of the box for a couple of
days so that I get a feel for what Olympus had in mind. Then I make a listing
of what the menu options are and start marking it up as I change things so
that I know what I've touched.
This approach to the owners manual has allowed me to learn and become
comfortable with most cameras in a reasonably efficient and short period of
time. :-)

Hi all, got an Olympus OMD EM-5 from my dear one for Xmas and it's an
impressive piece of Kit. Came with the 12-50 zoom they designed to help with
video shooting & it's nice too. Problem is that I'm overwhelmed with the
bewildering array of customization options available.
Does anyone know of any webinars, videos classes, or DVDs for learning how
to drive this camera and make it behave in ways that suit me?
Thanks.
