Smaller size and works great as a macro with the Elpro close up lens. I love this lens.

Hi Dave,

I owerlooked your post. What was your reason for keeping the elmarit?

Thanks,
Miha

And thank you Steve,
I have checked Herr`s site and found it very informative. I know 60
macro is a wonderful lens, but I already have 50 summicron, so my
preference at the moment goes towards 35 an 90.

Miha

Thank you Dave and Steve. Weight is a consideration for me, and
Summilux is out of my reach. I might go fot 35 elmarit and 90
summicron.

Miha

Miha... take a look at Doug Herr's Leica R site, and factor in what you will
use the lenses for...

if you need fast glass consider the Summicron or Summilux lenses...I love the Summilux 80mm 1.4 lens... but if speed is not an issue, the Elmarits are
great...

and if speed is not an issue for the 50mm range, consider the R 60 Elmarit
2.8 macro, which is wonderful...Steve

Miha,

Indeed, we will just have to wait for someone who has used both lenses to offer an opinion. At the time I purchased mine, cost was a major factor
and thus my decision was relatively easy. Size and weight are also
something to take into consideration, since the Summicrons are a bit larger
and heavier.

Best Regards,

Greg
