Hi Crew,
Well I don't know about the most expensive because many of us had funds for
cheap gear. BESIDES? Some photogs. can shoot just as fast with a brownie as a
SPEED GRAPHIC or a Leica!!!!! True! Because readers here could have been
shooting for newspapers and wire services 60 years ago when I would say the
majority of news and wire-service folks nearly all shot with SPEED GRAPHICS or
the likes there of?
Sure many of the shooters for LIFE\LOOK MAGAZINE etc. all shot with 35mm types
or 120 size film. It was a world from MARS. Not the RAT PACK of MICKEY MOUSE
CAMERAS OF TODAY! :-)
To-day they're called cameras? phones? maps? bank books, credit cards and
heavan knows what else attachments that have absolutely nothing to do with
milking, NOR REAL PICTURE TAKING! Heck I bet somewhere on the planet there's a
camera attached to an outhouse! ;-)
I'm very glad I shot close to 60 years with LEICA's about my neck and
shoulders! And yes at times I shot with almost every other type made. WHY? Well
there were cameras that fit the assignment so you bought one, as in buying the
"right tool to fit the task at hand!"
IT WAS A TIME! YES IT WAS! ;-)
cheers,
Dr. ted grant O.C.

I’m not sure about this premise. Most of the cameras shown were what pros
used, even the two prosumer nikons. The only real oddball being the one used
for the twin towers, and I know a pro in New Orleans who used a pair of those
for school portraits. I’d guess the Space Hassie cost more than my house and
car and all my cameras combined.
If you saw the speed that some of the guys a generation before me could handle
a Speed Graphic or even a Barnarck Leica, you’d wonder why anyone needs power
wind.
In my first job I shot football sidelines with a Rollei 120 twin lens reflex,
and a big old heavy strobe and battery. They do make a point, you use what ya
got.

It's a list of iconic photographs and, more importantly, the cameras used to
take them.
It will dispel any illusions you may have about having to have the most
expensive gear...
It also proves that the best camera is the one you have with you.
