How much money would one save?

David- After reading that from Doug's post- I will be inclined to leave the back on- I have 3 other R bodies. I'd hate to wear it out or have to clean the chip every other time you change it, or clean the images on the computer! Stasys
Hmmmm... I don't! If I went that route, I'd be relegated to the SL for film. And whilst I know Doug loves the SL, it's certainly not an R8 for convenience!
The alternative is the new Canon 20D with their better zoom (28 to135mm equiv. at f2.8 as I recall) - keeping the R8 for film. I've fondled such a package and it seems to work very well. With a Leica to EOS mount adapter, for the long glass... ----------
