Wow. Thanks Bill for the link. An interesting article, but what caught my
attention was the reference to New Topographic Photographic Survey; which
produced among other things, Second View: The Rephotographic Survey Project,
which rephotographed the works of well-known nineteenth-century photographers
of the West.
I’ve never heard of that group of photographers or their work. Some quick
searching reveals that most of their work, if not all, was here in the US; and
that the lead photographer, Mark Klett, has produced a third collection
updating his earlier work.
Does anyone, here on the list, know of, or has participated in, any similar
re-photographic projects in Canada, France, or elsewhere? It's a fascinating
concept - to create similar, if not exact, views from over a large span of time.
