I took the dog and drove to nearby Merritt, today, to do some shopping.
Along the way, I saw what I thought were swans out on Mamette Lake. When I
stopped and looked through the 800mm (FF equivalent - really just 400mm) lens I
saw they were pelicans.
Now we don't normally see pelicans this far north. In fact, to my personal
recollection, never before.
Further on, towards Merritt - near 8 mile corner - I saw a yearling Brown bear
(Grizzly to most of us). Again, black bears are as common as dirt around here,
but grizzly's are rarely seen.
Sadly, he'd just crossed the road, as I came 'round the bend, and all I got was
a few seconds sight of him scampering up a hillside, and out of view.
Still, a delight to see!
Coming home, I again saw the Pelicans, and again stopped for photos.
Moving on, I saw a Bald Eagle - again a very long way away. And again, I
stopped and got out the camera.

Bear in mind, that the eagle was so far off the road, that what you see is just
17% of the frame.
