Sophie was riding the horse in the indoor arena at about dusk yesterday, when a
great-horned owl swoops in the barn door, circles the arena, and flies out
again. This is in Hockley county; there's a pair of owls who reside out there.
Less awesome but no less appreciated, there have been at least two hermit
thrushes hanging around the yard this week.
