Greetings Nancy:
I would go with Chipping Sparrow (black line entirely through the
eye), I'm not sure (but I think a drab Chipping Sparrow), and
White-crowned Sparrow.

Morning!
I’ve seen several birds recently that I’m unsure what they are. I’m assuming
they are some kind of sparrows, which I don’t have a lot of experience
identifying.
The first two pictures are from Ruidoso last weekend. I don’t think they’re
the same bird. I was guessing chipping sparrow for the first one. Not sure
of the second one.
The third picture was yesterday in my backyard. There was also a
white-crowned sparrow with a black and white head. My guess was a first year
white-crowned sparrow.
The trip to Ruidoso was great for birds. We saw Mountain* and Western
Bluebirds, White-Breasted Nuthatch*, Pygmy Nuthatch*, Common Raven, Stellar
Jay, Dark-eyed Junco-Oregon, Dark-eyed Junco-Red-backed*, plus the two
sparrows. (*first time IDs) All in all a good trip and great to get away!
Thanks for your help!
Nancy
