That sounds really cool. Half the time when the doves sprawl out I think
one is dead! Never seen a Blue Jay do it. The color would be incredible!

I saw a suspiciously agitated swirl of pigeons over the TTU campus this
morning, and sure enough a peregrine falcon flew out of it (w/o lunch).
Later today, my first dark-eyed junco in the yard.
On another note, I love how the most common birds never fail to fascinate
me. This afternoon a blue jay flew into my yard, and lay down, I mean just
sprawled out, belly-down, on the ground. It spread its wings and tail
feathers, fluffed it neck and back feathers, and just basked in the sun and
warmth for a while. Its feathers, in the light, were just stunning. Wish
I had a camera.
