Hi All,
Last year Central New Mexico Audubon Society (CNMAS) entered a lease with
the New Mexico State Land Office for the restoration and conservation of
Melrose Woods in NM. Since then, they have been doing a lot of work on site
and they are ready to show it off! They are hosting a Dedication and Big
Sit at Melrose Woods on Sept 18th. The Dedication is at 11am and more
information about the Big Sit, if you wish to participate, will be sent
after RSVPing to the Dedication. Please RSVP to Robert Munro at

Melrose Woods is located along US Hwy 84 E about 10 miles west of the town
of Melrose. The entrance is a sudden driveway on the right (north side of
the road) but you can see the stand of trees for miles. It is a 2hr drive
from Lubbock. The coordinates are: 34.434361, -103.799111
If you have not been to Melrose Woods before, it is a special place. If you
cannot participate on the 18th, I highly encourage you to visit some time
this fall! It is a quiet and peaceful little bit of wilderness!
