I suspect that is the same bird I saw dash across Gary at the alley between
79th and 80th yesterday and again today as it rounded the corner of my house
and crossed by my bay window while I was sitting at the dining table. While
the close-up look at its tail as it disappeared past the shutters was cool, my
identification of the bird as a Cooper’s was based primarily on size, since the
bird was gone in an instant.

Subject: [leasbirds] Cooper's Hawk
Rob and I just saw a Cooper's Hawk in our pine tree ..where a cardinal and
other birds were eating just moments before at the feeder on our front wall.
When I called to Rob and went out, the bird sat for a minute before flying off
down the street.
Our pond is still frozen, much to the chagrin of robins and waxwings who were
regular visitors before the frigid cold snap.
