I called them.
They did not have the Zacurate Prto Series 500DL which had thousands of
reviews, solid FDA certification, etc. Amazon is out of them, and does not
know when they will be back in stock.
Rio Medical is only a two mile walk from our house, but they say they have
only ONE type of oximeter, which they sell for a little more than $60, as
you say. All they carry is North American, model JB8311. I do not see such
reassuring reviews, and I DO see pubmed warning against oximeters which are
NOT FDA certified and which appear just now. But on the web, a site called
Heritage sells it for a nominal price of $30, actual $40 after shipping and
such. So I ordered it anyway, and hope to see it by mail.
The photos suggest that the other type (500DL) WOULD be more reliable, but
measuring oxygen and pulse is not SO hard, and this probably is good
enough.

The nearest competitor had 1/1000 the number of reviews, and FDA has
lots of warnings about competitors which are unreliable.
(THIS one was vetted AND under $40.)
CNN says that now 90% of the folks who go to ventilators die, and will
explore why. It will be interesting to see whether they know.
