Friends, One of the reasons our committees spend time examining the groups we
support with our Meetings donations is to make you aware of organizations that
do good work. Here is Ramallah Friends Schools end of year appeal if you are
lead to contribute. They are a shining light for growing future Palestinian
leaders touched by Quaker values.
In the Light,
Tim Hunt

Areas Needing Support
*Support our Financial Aid Program: Tuition fees are on average US$3600
annually and about 15% of our 1393 students will receive financial aid with a
total commitment of $433,463 to families this year.
We have been able to secure only a small fraction of this amount and your
support will help us fulfill these commitments.
*Support our General Fund: With no substantial endowment to sustain us, our
budget continues to suffer annual deficits. As you know, these are the gifts
that are the hardest to come by.
Any amount helps:
$20, $50, $100, $500 ...

Dear Friends
The universal value of Equality is a vital element of Quaker education where
all people are equal before God regardless of gender, creed, culture, color
or social status.
Since our foundation by American Quakers in 1869, we have focused on the
education of women to develop their potential and realize their opportunity
to be equal members of their communities.
On campus, at least 48% of the student body are females. Girls and women lead
with pride as principals, deputies, student council presidents, Model UN
Conference presidents, and much more. And female students, as well as males,
are encouraged to blossom under many of the school's innovative educational
and extra-curricular programs.
"We cannot all succeed if half of us are held back" - Malala Yousafzai
In Fourth Grade, students read and discussed an adjusted version of
international novel "I Am Malala", and focused on the concept of well-being
and civil rights. (first photo from left)
"At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can" -
Frida Kahlo
In Tenth Grade, students studied the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo,
and some of our students' artwork which was inspired by the life and work of
Frida Kahlo, was featured in a local exhibit titled "A Smile in the Middle of
the Way". (second photo from left)
At RFS girls are pushed to inquire and aspire about gender equality as they
study the history of women in the region and the world. Inside the campus,
all social borders are lifted. All RFS students graduate knowing that they
are capable of accomplishing anything they put their mind to, a value we are
proud to instill in our students year after year.
With tuition fees kept to a minimum and the Palestinian economy suffering
continuous setbacks, many Palestinian families struggle to send their
children to RFS. However, our Financial Aid Program - supported by our
extended community of Friends - makes it possible for each child to attend
school where they are cherished and encouraged to pursue their dreams while
serving others.
Whether a gift of prayer or funds, your continued support is what keeps us
going and is sincerely cherished.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled
with peace and joy...
