Greetings, Friends,
Our time together on Zoom this morning after Meeting for Worship and before the
2nd Hour program on FCNL's priorities for the coming Congressional session was
filled with afterthoughts and requests to hold Friends and others in the Light.
Below is what I was able to record of the latter. As usual, I don't don't post
afterthoughts or messages given during worship.
I know I missed some people's names this morning, which I regret. In some
sense, we don't need to know a person's name to hold them in the Light, but if
those who made the requests want to do so, please feel free to send a follow-up
message giving us the names I either missed or mess up.
Here's what I was able to write down:
Announcements
The Meeting welcomes financial contributions either through Paypal or by check.
Details are on the Meeting's website.
There was an announcement about how to get on the Meeting's list serve if
you're not already on it. But since those not on the list serve won't get this
email, I haven't included it.
Next Sunday, May 3rd, the Climate Change Working Group will hold its regular
monthly meeting, this time by Zoom. Tim Hunt, who made the announcement, was
uncertain whether the meeting would begin at noon or some other time. He will
contact those who participate sometime this week to let them know. Others
interested in attending should contact Tim.
Requests for Holding in the Light and updates from earlier requests
Laurie Wilner thanked Friends for holding her 107-year old friend in the Light
who has been fighting Covid-19. Her friend is home from the hospital and
recovering well. (Laurie would like to have her genes.)
Najla Drooby asks us to hold her and her son, Philip, in the Light as he tries
to decide where he belongs and she tries to know when to offer advice and when
to stay quiet.
Georgia Fuller thanks everyone who has been holding her in the Light as she has
been learning to use Zoom. This past week she successfully organized and held a
Zoom meeting with participants in Texas, Kenya, and at Georgia's home. She
thanked Laurie Wilner, in particular, for her help, and says the meeting went
well.
Charlotte Boynton asks to hold a young woman she considers her adopted daughter
(whose name I missed) and the woman's husband, Gil, in the Light. Issues
related to the coronavirus pandemic caused Gil to attempt suicide this past
week. The resulting damage to his hand requires surgery that has put him in the
hospital.
Babs Williams has had a message from Nancy Cady's sister, Norma, to inform her
(and all of us) that Nancy has died. Babs has no further information and will
be in touch with Norma to learn more.
Gary Garriott has been in touch with Chloe Schwenke, who is recovering from
Covid-19. Gary says Chloe has ups and downs, but she is making progress.
Garry Garriott also asked us to hold in the Light his wife's brother, Peter
LaMott, who is also recovering from Covid -19. Peter's case was particularly
difficult, but he is recovering.
Ann Delorey asks us to hold in the Light the family of her friend, Steve
Goodwin, who died unexpectedly this past week from causes unrelated to
Covid-19. Steve leaves a wife and two children, one of whom is still in high
school.
Ann Delorey also asks us to hold in the Light another friend, whose name might
be Laura Stone. Laura's father died last week of the coronavirus, and her
mother has now tested positive for it, as well.
Dona Manoukian thanks us for holding her husband, Paul, and the whole family in
the Light. Ten days into his fight with Covid-19, Paul is weak and debilitated,
but he doesn't have a fever today, and his lungs seem clear.
Pardee Lowe thanks us for holding him in the Light. He had a mild heart attack
a week ago that sent him to the hospital. He's back home now, in isolation, but
with lots of new equipment to help him recover.
Ray Bridge asked us to hold a couple in the Light from Bethesda Meeting whose
names I didn't catch. The husband has advanced pancreatic cancer.
Lauren Stockbower asked us to continue to hold Katie Henderson and her father,
David, in the Light as Katie begins taking a new, experimental drug this week
to treat her cancer.
