Here's what I've been able to determine: First, there is very little chance that we will be able to add another runway at this point. The Utilities Department simply does not want to give up anymore current or future possible dumping area. Second, the chance of paving the current runway is very slim, but could be possible in the future when the EPA determines that the soil can no longer handle further sludge dumping. At that point, the land would be closed to any building or development for 30 years or more. That also closes the current sludge area to us as well, so even then we could not expand. Some positive news is that we are in no danger of losing the current field due to EPA rules demanding an open area between the road and the sludge field. I do feel that we could improve our pavilion , ramps, tables or storage building if we wanted to without protest. I'm sure that most of this information is already know by MOST of our club. However, I thought it best to go ahead and verify this information in order to satisfy a bunch of recent questions by a few members. Thanks, Jim
