Pete: You do need some sort of a sound card, or at least a serial midi interface. I'm not an expert on the PC platform others will be of better advice. However, I have found one of the best and very inexpensive (15 Euros) sequencers. This is a shareware program from France called "Melody" (works on PCs http://www.myriad-online.com The American/English documentation is very complete and very well done. With only a translation snafu's. At least on the Mac version, this has a very good midi synth built into it. Notes can be entered by mousing or with a musical keyboard, or even computer keyboard. Another inexpensive sequencer is the MasterTrax Pro from G-Vox. Sorry, you'll have to do a search on those terms to find that. Also a nicely implemented cross platform sequencer. > From: "pete" <pete@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Reply-To: korgypark@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 20:05:03 -0000 > To: <Korgypark@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [korgypark] Sequencing > > For the past 10 years have been using my Korg M1 + 05R/W module + Yamaha 4 > track with an ancient Amiga computer running `Sequencer One" on floppy! > > I need to upgrade. > > I have a spare P1 computer , with no sound card, running windows 98. > > Does the pc need a sound card to drive the M1 & 05R/W if they are connected to > separate amplification system > > What sequencer software should I buy ( limited funds) ? > > Can anyone talk me through the ideal setup? > > Thanks > > Pete > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > This message was sent through the Korgy Park mailing list. > Mailing list info page: //www.freelists.org/list/korgypark. > ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent through the Korgy Park mailing list.
