Hello people. I am pleased that Janne and/or freelists have this list set at no attachments, as frankly I'm not too keen on receiving unsolicited audio files when I have a working studio to run from the same computer! It's a fa= r better idea to post them on a web page, where you can add some accessible info about the files (and yourself) - either something like a geocities pag= e or on Korgy Park if Janne will OK it. If anyone has a page with useable samples or sysex stuff, email me and I will add it to the links on my site in due course. I have some new samples on my site. I have recorded some tabla playing by percussionist Mick Tickner and there are zipped WAV files of 4 different rhythms (2 traditional, 2 improvised) with single and double time feels. They were recorded with a stereo pair of AKG C100S microphones which are really good value these days and very useable on drum kit overheads, female vocals and acoustic guitar. I also used a Tandy PZM for ambience - great mics used by lots of pros. If anyone is looking for a good condenser mic, I have bought a really good one recently from Red 5 Audio, who only sell on the net at http://www.red5audio.com. I have an RV10, with cardioid, omni and figure 8 pickup patterns, which has proved very good on a vocal session so far and I have experimented briefly with it on drum overheads and trumpet, with so fa= r excellent results. This cost me =A3150, including good shockmount, foam windshield and tough padded flightcase. Their straight cardioid RV8 is unde= r =A3100, with case etc. To put the price in perspective, I have used a Neumann U87 in pro studios and just the shockmount for that mic costs =A3155! Throw in something like a Spirit Folio Notepad mixer or one of the new little Behringers and it is more possible than ever to put together a home studio which could produce good results from both MIDI and live playing/singing for very little money. An X5 or 05RW fits naturally into that equation - they fit very well into a mix alongside guitar or vocals, and mine sees use every day! --=20 Tony Thompson Mighty Wight Productions http://www.mightywight.net A Member of The Music Producers Guild UK http://www.mpg.org.uk Marissa Anglin's album 'Volume One' is now out on Black Kat Records/Sony, engineering by Gareth Daniels, programming by Tony Thompson) http://www.blackkat.net ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent through the Korgy Park mailing list.
