Many of these 'facts' are just laughable. WalMart is the biggest company to
ever exist on earth? Please.

They haven't stepped off the continent yet - unlike ubiquitous oil companies
(BP, Imperial Oil, Shell, etc) or fast-food chains McDonalds.

And David B. is correct. Wal*Mart's purchasing is done twice annually in 3 day
long 'tradeshows'. Vendors and manufacturers must first apply to Wal*Mart to
have their product vetted. THEN they're given permission to attend the
tradeshow, demonstrate the product and give a sales pitch to a panel of
Wal*Mart procurement agents. If these steps are met and approved, Wal*Mart then
negotiates a 2-3 year contracts where wholesale price is offered at pennies to
the dollar. Vendors, desperate to get into Wal*Mart stores often take a LOSS on
their wares just to get the visibility and the bulk purchasing clout Wal*Mart
demands.

On two occasions I was given the chance to have Bullseye products made
available stateside on our "Taking Care of Xmas" CD compilation and an Ian
Anderson DVD/CD combo pack. I was offered $0.36 per unit on the Xmas disc and
$0.77 on the Ian Anderson package. I told them to bite me. I'm wasn't in
business to make Wal*Mart MORE rich unless I was going to get some of that
action as well.
