Tavares: Opel bleibt im Peugeot-Konzern eigenständig
Der Vorstandsvorsitzende von Peugeot, Carlos Tavares, hat der Bundesregierung
und den Ministerpräsidenten der Bundesländer mit Opel-Werken versichert, dass
bei der Übernahme des Unternehmens sämtliche Standort- und Jobgarantien
eingehalten werden. "In unserem heutigen Treffen habe ich den Willen von PSA
bekräftigt, die wertvolle Zusammenarbeit mit den Arbeitnehmervertretungen
fortzusetzen", teilte Tavares am 5. April nach einer Spitzenrunde in Berlin
mit. Was nach Ablauf der bestehenden Garantien auf die 19.000 Opel-Mitarbeiter

Porsche und Audi bündeln Entwicklung
Porsche und Audi wollen ihre Entwicklungskapazitäten zusammenlegen, um eine
neue, gemeinsame Fahrzeugarchitektur zu erarbeiten. In den nächsten Monaten
bereiten firmenübergreifende Teams die konkrete inhaltliche Kooperation vor und
definieren die Roadmap bis 2025. Dabei solle "weiterer Spielraum für die Themen
Elektrifizierung, Digitalisierung und autonomes Fahren geschaffen werden",
erläuterten die VW-Töchter in einer gemeinsamen Pressemitteilung.

Ford behält Langzeit-Kredite in Kanada "genau im Auge"
Ford will das Wachstum langfristiger Auto-Kredite und -Mietverträge in Kanada
begrenzen. Mark Buzzell, Vorstandsvorsitzender von Ford Kanada, sagte in einem
Interview auf der Vancouver Auto Show, dass Ford wirklich darum bemüht sei, die
Handlungszyklen zu verkürzen. Am Ende des Tages müsse man aber wettbewerbsfähig
bleiben. In den USA lief der durchschnittliche Auto-Kredit im Jahr 2015 über
etwa 5,5 Jahre. In Kanada waren es sechs Jahre. (Automotive News Online - 06.

Freudenberg setzt 8,5 Milliarden um
Im zurückliegenden Jahr hat der Zulieferer Freudenberg seinen Umsatz auf fast
8,6 Milliarden Euro verbessert. Gegenüber dem Vorjahr entspricht das einer
Steigerung um 13,5 Prozent. Fast 40 Prozent des Gesamtumsatzes entfallen nach
Angaben von Reuters auf die Automobilindustrie. Das starke Wachstum ist
hauptsächlich auf die Zukäufe im letzten Jahr zurückzuführen, insbesondere auf
die Übernahme der Japan Vilene Company im April 2016 und der Vibracoustic

Denseo setzt auf Bio-Polycarbonate in Navi-systemen fürs Auto
Denso hat bekannt gegeben, Bio-Polycarbonate (PC) aus Stärke und
Urethan-Harzen, die aus Kastoröl extrahiert wurden, in einigen Produkten zu
verwenden. Dem Automobilzulieferer zufolge bieten die stärkenbasierten Bio-PCs
eine höhere Oberflächenhärte, bessere optische Merkmale sowie überlegene
hydrolytische Stabilität im Vergleich zu gewöhnlichen, auf Petroleum
basierenden PCs. Aus den Bio-PCs von Denso werden Kunststoffblenden für

Amazons Roboter-Krieg weitet sich aus
Zahlreiche neue Automations-Spezialisten entstehen im Kampf um Lagerhäuser.
Locus Robotics hat im vergangenen Jahr seine Lagerhaus-Roboter-Lösung namens
LocusBot gezeigt. Das Unternehmen hat es zunächst für seine eigenen Geschäfte
eingesetzt und danach an Firmen verkauft, die von Haushaltswaren bis zu
Autoteilen alles vertreiben. Inzwischen verkauft Locus seine Roboter an DHL
Supply Chain. Zu den anderen Unternehmen, die in diesem Bereich mit Amazon
konkurrieren, gehören unter anderem 6 River Systems und Fetch. (Bloomberg.com -

Tavares: Opel to stay independent in Peugeot group
Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares has reassured the German government and the prime
ministers of the German federal states in which Opel factories are located that
all location and job guarantees will be adhered to after the takeover. "At
today's meeting, I have emphasized PSA's willingness to continue the valuable
cooperation with the employees' representatives," Tavares said on April 5 after
a summit in Berlin. It is, however, uncertain, what the 19,000 Opel employees
will face once the existing guarantees expire. (DPA - April 6, 2017)
Porsche and Audi bundle development
Porsche and Audi want to bundle their development capacities to work on a new,
joint car architecture. Cross-company teams in the next few months will prepare
the concrete content of the cooperation and define the roadmap until 2025. The
VW subsidiaries aim to create "further room for the topics of electrification,
digitalization and autonomous driving," they said in a joint press release.

Ford to 'keep close eye on' long-term loans in Canada
Ford Motor is seeking to limit the growth in long-term auto loans and leases in
Canada. Mark Buzzell, chief executive officer of Ford of Canada, said in an
interview at the Vancouver auto show that Ford is really trying to limit the
trade cycles to shorter terms, but at the end of the day its has to stay
competitive. In the U.S., the average new car loan in 2015 was 5.5 years long,
as compared with a period of six years in Canada. (Automotive News Online -

Freudenberg posts revenues of 8.5 billion euros
Supplier Freudenberg's revenues rose to nearly 8.6 billion euros last year, up
13.5 percent compared to the previous year. According to Reuters, the
automotive industry accounts for nearly 40 percent of total revenues. The
strong growth is mainly due to the acquisitions the company made last year, in
particular the takeover of Japan Vilene Company in April 2016 and the

Denso: Bio-polycarbonate used in car navigation systems
Denso has announced it is using bio-polycarbonate (PC) made from starch and
urethane resin extracted from castor oil in some of its products. The
automotive supplier says the starch-derived bio-PCs have higher surface
hardness, better optical characteristics and superior hydrolytic stability than
conventional petroleum-derived PCs. Denso's bio-PC is being used to produce
plastic bezels for Toyota Motor Corporation's automotive navigation systems.

Amazon's robot war is spreading
Several new automation specialists emerge on the warehouse battlefield. Locus
Robotics last year revealed its warehouse robotics solution called the
LocusBot. The company was first using it for its own business, then selling it
to companies that ship everything from housewares to auto parts. Now, Locus is
selling its robots to DHL Supply Chain. Other companies competing with Amazon
