Good afternoon,
The Board of County Commissioners has asked that I send the following
reminder out to everyone.....
Thank you for your continuing commitment to public service as a member of
one of Klamath County’s Advisory boards. Your role is a critical
component of our effort to provide excellent services to the citizens of
Klamath County.
We want to remind you that several provisions of Oregon law apply to you
while you are acting in your capacity on one or more of the various boards,
committees, and task forces that help us do our work.
- First, public meeting and public records laws apply to boards and
committees that make recommendations to us on policy or administrative
matters. You can find the latest version of the Attorney General’s Public
Records and Meetings Manual here:
http://www.doj.state.or.us/pdf/public_records_and_meetings_manual.pdf
- Second, you are considered public officials by the Oregon Government
Ethics Commission. Please review the latest version of their Guide for
Public Officials regarding regulations and potential conflicts of interest
here: TABLE OF CONTENTS (oregon.gov)
<https://www.oregon.gov/ogec/Documents/2021%20PO%20Guide%20Final%20Adopted.pdf>
- Last, please remember to apprise us of any changes in your contact
information.
Again, we thank you for the important work you do.
Happy Holidays!
The Klamath County Board of Commissioners
Thank You,
Sandy Cox
