Hi Dave and others who may be wondering.

On the receive end over VHF 144.390 MHz you would need an APRS station
with a computer or mobile with display screen.
For access via smart phone, an APRS app and access via cell or WiFi.
For internet access with computer/tablet You can type in the browser the
URL and then go to the area of interest showing the station

I normally use http://aprs.fi/#!lat=44.22740&lng=-76.51340 (for Kingston
area)

or you can go to the KARC APRS Station locator page and type in the
callsign
http://www.ve3kbr.com/aprs/aprs_stn.htm and then set up a short cut on the
desktop once you are on the page showing the station.

Hope that helps

Hi Doug;

Thanks so much for thinking of me. I have spent some time with google this
morning and actually stumbled on this site. It is still somewhat greek to
me
but I think eventually I will get enough understanding to make something
work. I have seen some units that connect directly to a tnc controller to
my
UV-3 without the need for a computer. Looking for something not too
expensive that I can donate to the RC model club. If I am right this would
be preferred way to go. I still have to understand what is needed on the
receive end to have a useful data display which anyone could call up on
the
internet. This APRS thing is totally new to me.

Thanks again,

Dave VA3DLF

Someone was asking about APRS for weather stations. The link below has a
Tiny Trak that can be re flashed weather firmware.
A better description can be found under WXTrak section.

Hope this helps
