Binrat and Bluelamb will have more to say on this.  But you are 
referring to the famous omelette in a boil-in-the-bag pouch.
Personally I had no problem with it, it provided a good base to put 
sandbags on when building a trench.
Eat it?  Not on your life, or mine!
