Invitation to Participate in Research on Traffic Awareness Technologies The MITRE Corporation Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) McLean, Virginia MITRE's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) is soliciting the help of pilots to assess pilot response to a suite of technologies that aid the pilot in following other aircraft in certain situations. The concept for the use of these technologies is in the early stages of development and flight crew input is necessary. The outcome of this study will be used to mature the concept prior to implementation. Participant Requirements: The study will require pilot participants to conduct cruise, approach and landing operations in a medium-fidelity flight simulator. Participants must be qualified in turbojet aircraft, and have recent flight experience in aircraft equipped with FMS, EFIS and Autopilot. The study will be conducted from July 30 through August 17. Each participant will take part in approximately 6 hours of simulation in addition to pre and post-simulation briefings. Start time will be 08:00 a.m. The day's activities should conclude by 04:00 p.m. MITRE will provide $300 Compensation for completing the study. There are no known risks or physical discomforts associated with this simulation beyond those of ordinary life. If you fulfill the requirements and can volunteer, please contact Tracey Kenney at 703-983-1606 or (tkenney@xxxxxxxxx). You may also contact Charmaigne Burriss at (703)-983-2850 or cburriss@xxxxxxxxx for further details and to schedule your participation. Thank you for your interest and support in the testing of new concepts!
