Upon closing the acquisition Aug. 1, DAE Chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said in a release, "The closing of this acquisition is an important step forward in the business and investment relationships between Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and the United States." "This is a significant step forward in our strategy which reinforces the progress that DAE has achieved so far, and for sure it will not be the last one," Omar Bin Sulaiman, managing director of DAE wrote in the statement. Leesburg Airport Director Tim Deike said he was not concerned with the acquisition and that the Landmark representatives told him it was "business as usual" at the airport. Airport Commission Chairman Dennis Boykin said "it's no big deal," adding that the Dubai company would sell off the fixed base operators, or FBOs, as part of the merger agreement. In addition to being the FBO at 33 airports nationally--Leesburg, Dulles and Los Angles are just three of them--Landmark operates a large Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul operation, which is what is reported to be the primary interest to DAE. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
