BB> I have the minimal contract with Juno to use the software
instead of webmail, and can go to the web with J8. Also, it allows me to
use Word formatting and color fonts, and the spell checker (which we did
not have in J4) is amazingly intuitive...far better than the one in Word.

Hi, Babette. Been years since I visited your side of the continent. I
stopped using my Windows ME machine a couple years ago, and decided to wean
myself off the proprietary software at the same time rather than upgrade
from J4. I have come to like the free Windows Live Mail, having upgraded
from the version that came with Windows Vista. Spell checker works nicely
and it also lets me send unformatted ASCII. Probably it can also do fonts
and colors which I never wanted. Juno charges the same whether we use their
mailer or another.

The default mailer in my Android smartphone and tablet also does a good job
reading mail that arrived by Juno and Verizon, and the tablet is fairly good
for writing, too, but I do most my writing with this real computer's real
keyboard and mouse and big screen.

BB> I get very little spam (don't use this address to sign up for anything
on
the web) and I report any that does slip in, to Juno at once.

That's the major problem with Juno for me. I give this address to any site
that asks me. Far as I can figure, only one of them betrayed me, but it was
a full betrayal and I don't know which one did it. Twice or thrice a day a
wave of about a dozen spams arrive at once. They all have obvious spam
titles like "Burn fat fast", "Wireless Internet", and my favorite "Last
night was awesome!" I delete them from phone and tablet and real computer
without opening, or mark them in Live Mail as "Junk" or forward to Spamdesk,
and they keep on coming. As a consequence I seldom use my Juno address
anymore.
