ILOG JRULES CUTS DEVELOPMENT TIME OF MISSION CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
RUNNING
ON ORACLE9IAS

Enables Enterprise Customers to Quickly Add Personalization Capabilities
 to Existing Applications

PARIS, France and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- August 7, 2001 - ILOG(r)
(NASDAQ:
ILOG (NM France: SICOVAM: 006673), the leading provider of software
components, today announced that ILOG JRules(tm), 100% Java(tm)-based
business rule engine, has been approved to run on Oracle9i Application
Server (Oracle9iAS). ILOG JRules running on Oracle 9iAS will give
high-performance, mission critical Internet application customers a
solution
for quickly building personalized Java applications and deploying them.
ILOG
has been named among several industry leading Java development tool
vendors
that have added support for Oracle9i Application Server, according to an
announcement issued today by Oracle.

"Oracle9i Application Server's developer friendly environment coupled
with
high performing ILOG JRules engine, will give enterprise customers
flexible
rule-based personalization capabilities," said Rene Bonvanie, Vice
President of Oracle9i Marketing at Oracle. "With this integration,
customers
can quickly and easily add new business rules that are needed for order
management, event management, billing and other critical functions of
existing applications."

"Oracle9iAS and ILOG JRules complement each other. - they are fast,
lightweight and 100% J2EE compliant,"said Eric Brisson, Vice President
of
Communications Business Division at ILOG. "With ILOG JRules running on
Oracle9iAS, enterprises have flexibility to quickly build and deploy new
business rules to reflect rapidly changing needs of customers."

Compatibility with open standards is another benefit of ILOG JRules
integrated with Oracle9iAS. Both are fully compliant with Java 2
Enterprise
Edition (J2EE), further enhancing the quick addition of key capabilities
that are scalable and work seamlessly within and beyond a corporate
enterprise. Joint support of the versatile J2EE architecture also
helped
ILOG JRules to be integrated with Oracle9iAS in just two days - and the
ILOG
rule engine delivers outstanding performance on the Oracle platform.

The selection of ILOG JRules for Oracle9iAS builds on the relationship
between the two companies and follows the June 1999 decision by Oracle
to
embed ILOG optimization components in APS (Advanced Planning and
Scheduling)
part of the Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning and Oracle
Manufacturing
Scheduling offering. ILOG components are considered the de facto
standard
for optimization.

Business Rules for Business People
ILOG JRules offers many differentiating features for companies who want
a
powerful business rule engine for Oracle9iAS. JRules was the first to
bring
business rules for business people by offering a customizable business
action language that allows business rules to be created in the language
of
a business or industry. The latest version, ILOG JRules 3.5, continues
this
tradition of allowing non-programmers with more knowledge of customer
needs
to change the business rules that govern the application.
ILOG JRules 3.5 uses the full power of the ILOG business rule language
to
monitor and react to XML objects. This allows business people and others
to
construct business rules as usual using ILOG's Rule Builder environment.
ILOG JRules is also very lightweight, with a footprint of just 300
Kilobytes, and is extremely high performance. Recent benchmark tests
show
ILOG business rule engines can fire up to 18,000 rules per second.
Other ILOG Java components will be integrated with Oracle9iAS. These
include
ILOG JConfigurator(tm), the first embeddable software product that truly
customizes the online configuration and selection of products and
services
for each individual buyer. In addition, ILOG is working to bring some of
its
optimization engines into the program.

high-speed caching, business intelligence, rapid application
