At the last count only seven JHB pilots had recorded hours on the IVAO database. I can't make any further steps in this direction until we get the 10 minimum. Until then use of the JHB callsign is technically not allowed - but I guess it means someone has to spot the callsign and issue a yellow card. bones -----Original Message----- From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Peter Dodds Sent: 14 August 2007 12:19 To: jhb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: pdodds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jhb] Re: Whither Goest One of my regrets is that I have not been able to fly with JHB for a couple of years now. This was partly because I found PCI to be too empty to be of any interest when compared with my usual vatsim environment, and also I couldn't get on with the PCI software - it would never let me file a flight plan for instance. There was no market for PCI anyway - two big VATC organisations is currently enough for the entire planet. I am an active member of vatsim as you know, and as you also know, don't really understand the reluctance of JHB members to use Vatsim. It has the advantage over IVAO of being much more active within the UK. But that doesn't matter. Because of the groundswell of JHB opinion preferring IVAO, I have joined IVAO in the hope that JHB goes down that route. So, IVAO gets my vote, and if Gerry's resolution is adopted, of the 18 JHB members, this dormant one may become active again! In terms of creating an IVAO VA, I thought it was only necessary to have 10 members of IVAO who have logged hours? I didn't think those 10 each had to log so many hours a week? If the VA is accepted, I don't see that this puts any pressure on bones to "do" anything like creating assignments. It would just mean that all voluntary JHB flights were logged under the JHB VA banner, doesn't it? Peter
