working with Excel and Jaws

Hi,
We are trying to make changes to a bar graph we created inside Excel, but
Jaws won't allow us to make any changes.
I am a sighted helper for a student and I can see that when we turn off Jaws
I can make the changes to the graph, such as background color, legends,
etc.
How do we configure Jaws so that the student can do this part of the work
herself without sighted help? All she gets from Jaws is a description of the
graph, but no options to make changes.
