this is getting a bit off the topic, but my suggestion was in answer to an
answer about how to suppress them.  As to why, some people already had all
the security they ever needed before sp2 came along and the only thing that
has changed is now, if they don't turn it off, they have problems with the
stuff they don't want or need in sp2.

Sure you can turn the firewall off and the security off but why?  If they
are configured correctly they never bother you.  Everyone wants a more
secure computer and better protection so why turn off part of what service
pack has done?
